I understand that they can be helpful, but their supposed operation seems to defy physics. If you think about how the force is applied to the crowsfoot there can be very little transfer of that energy to the actual bolt. In my mind the only thing happening when I twist that ratchet is the extension is just trying to twist inside the hole in the crows foot. The direction of the force is applied in, is incorrect. This all makes perfect sense inside my head, but if it sounds like I've gone insane I apologize. Good luck with that filter. I think Rube Goldberg was the real father of automotive engineering.
